Prior to joining Clearwater Counselling, Sheryl enjoyed a 25-year career as a registered nurse in both Alberta and B.C., with experience ranging from critical care and cardiology to family medicine. She completed her undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Calgary, and her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

Building upon her acute interest in biology and neurobiology, Sheryl’s focus is on the innate mind, body, and spiritual connection, as well as the impact of stress, and how self-awareness supports healing. Sheryl has worked alongside individuals who have experienced acute and developmental trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, as well as life transition, including relationship and parenting support. She has also developed a distinct interest in working alongside first responders and medical professionals as they navigate a pathway towards optimal health.

Sheryl fundamentally believes in healing and growth through a genuine, non-judgemental, and authentic connection, that is both client-focused and strength-based. Sheryl confidently integrates several modalities into treatment including mindfulness, family systems, narrative, cognitive behavioural therapy, patterns of attachment, Polyvagal theory, and Attachment-focused EMDR. Her warm energy and sincere compassion are the foundation of her practice.
